Fire Safety Day
at the Butte Falls Fire Department
October 5th, the Butte Falls Fire Department and the High Cascades Ranger district fire organization joined together to present fire safety to the students of Butte Falls Grade School. Discussion centered on causes of structure fires and what to do in case of emergencies. The students were shown what a structure firefighter looks like with all their gear on and not to be afraid of them. They are there to fight fire and save lives.

Children get to see what structural firefighter looks like with their gear on.
The Forest Service talked about causes of wildland fires and what they can do to help prevent fires and putting out their campfire properly when they leave the area. Wildland personal protective gear and structure protective gear were compared to show students the difference between structure and wildland firefighting.
