Wildlife Images "Wildfire Awareness Weekend"

The second weekend of June, Wildlife Images collaborated with Rural Metro, Oregon Department of Forestry and Josephine County to hold a "Wildfire Awareness Weekend". Firefighters provided fire prevention material and instructed visitors on how to protect their homes from wildfire.

Children learned about how to escape a burning building by participating in the interactive fire safety house. As they first enter the house kids are briefed on how to prevent structural fires and then simulate a "911" call. Next they move to a mock bedroom where artificial smoke is released and are instructed to move to the floor and feel the heated door, upon determining the door is too hot to open they proceed to exit the house through a nearby window.

As always, Smokey was happy to visit all of his friends. He received plenty welcoming hugs and high fives. This event provided to be both educational and entertaining.
