Make your home defensible against wildfire
This is an important time of year to do some fine-fuel cleanup
around your house. Dry needles and leaves in rain gutters, under
decks and in other hidden places can kindle fires that may seriously
damage your house.
Tall, dry grass is a primary carrier for wildfire. Trim dry grass
near your home, along property line and the roadside (Note: mowers
and other power-driven equipment cannot be operated between 1:00
p.m. and 8:00 p.m.)
See our pages about
protecting your home against wildfire.
The fire danger level on forestlands protected
by the Oregon Dept. of Forestry’s
Southwest District is “extreme” (red), and the Industrial Fire
Precaution Level (IFPL) is II (two). This declaration affects state,
private, county and Bureau of Land Management forestlands in Jackson
and Josephine counties.
