Fuel Reduction Around Structure

Required on all structures

 

Size Of Fuel Break

30-100 feet: A 30 ft. break is required around all structures.  An additional 20 ft. must be added to structures classified as “extreme” (& has fire-resistant roofing).  An additional 70 feet must be added (to the 30) when a property is considered “extreme” and has flammable roofing material.

Tree Pruning

Maintain plants in green condition, remove dead plant material and ladder fuels, and arrange to minimize possibility of fire transfer to adjacent vegetation

Vegetation Overhanging Structure

Maintain substantially free of dead vegetation

 

Chimney & Stovepipe Clearance

No vegetation within 10 feet

 

Firewood, Lumber Piles & Other Flammables

Move at least 20 feet from structure, or fully enclose, during months of fire season

 

Exterior Decks

Maintain area beneath deck to be substantially free of firewood, lumber, leaves, needles and similar flammable material

 

Along Driveway

Vegetation cleared to a height of 13 ½ ft, and a fuel break which extends 10 ft on sides of driveway centerline
